Hope you checked out my post 5 tips to get back to a healthier life!, where I talked about why I prefer Almond Milk over relatively more common cow milk, here I am sharing a really quick and easy home recipe to make almond milk at home.
Almond Milk
Really quick and easy to make all you need is just Almonds and Water, and some love for "wholesome" milk! This recipe makes use of slow-juicer (cold-pressed juicer), in case you do not have slow juicer, you can use bullet mixer/grinder, it just takes bit longer and effort to filter the milk.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup almonds without shell
- 1 cup water to soak
- 2.5 cups water for juicing
Instructions
- Soak the almonds (without shell) in water over night (preferably soak them for nearly 20-24hrs), this will ensure they are tender when you juice (or should I say 'milk') them.
- If almonds are soaked well, their skin will loosen up a bit, making it easy to peel. Drain the water, and peel the skin off the almonds.
- Put peeled almonds in a large bowl, and keep a large spoon handy. Switch on the slow juicer.
- Add almonds mixed in water one spoon at a time to the juicer, and juicer will do the rest.
- Dont throw away the almond pulp - that is packed with fiber and nutrients too and you can use that in many different ways - e.g. add it to soup, or desserts for creamy and rich texture.
