IMPORTANT! A word of Caution!
Information is provided for the reference purpose only, please make sure to consult with doctor or certified practitioner before starting on any diet. As this method of using ‘food as medicine‘ is very powerful so it is expected that within the first three days of using this method, blood sugar level may go down drastically. And within seven days blood pressure is expected to go down. So it is very important to taper the dosage of medicine/ insulin in accordance to the lowering down of the blood sugar/ blood pressure. It is advisable to do the whole process under the supervision of a medical expert, who has the knowledge of food as medicine as well as the conventional modern medicine.
STEP 1 – Find your Food Index (α)
To find your food index, please find your height in feet-inches in the left column (or nearest number) and your weight in Kg on the top row and go to the number you find at intersection. The number at intersection is your food index (α).
For example, my height is 5 feet 4 inches, and weight is 59 Kg, so my Food Index would be “580”
Step 2 – Food Variety
Once you have obtained your Food Index (in this case it is 580), use following formula to find out the quantity you need to consume –
- Fruits – take seasonal fruits, and you can take any fruit of your choice – (α X 1) grams, so 580 grams
- Vegetables – take seasonal raw vegetables (uncooked, washed and cleaned properly), and you can take any vegetables of your choice – (α X 1) grams, so 580 grams
- Green Leaves – take raw green leaves (uncooked, washed and cleaned properly), and you can take any leaves of your choice that you can eat – (α X 0.1) grams, so 58-60 grams. E.g. spinach, lettuce, betel leaf (paan) etc
- Nuts – any nuts of your choice (α X 0.05) grams, so approx 29-30 grams
- Sprouts – fresh sprouts (α X 0.05) grams, so approx 29-30 grams
What food to avoid –
- Avoid any industrialized, packaged food (processed, fried food, packed juices)
- Avoid milk/dairy products in any form (raw milk, boiled milk, tea, coffee, milk shakes etc)
- Avoid smoking, alcohol, and meat/animal products (in any form)
Special tips –
- Eat home cooked food
- Try to eat fruits between 8:00am and 12:00pm noon
- Try to eat vegetables, leaves, nuts, sprouts between 12:00pm noon and 8:00pm
- Avoid eating anything after 8:00pm
- Eat freshly cut/cooked food only, do not cut and store for long
- Eat as per your appetite, but make sure to eat, do not starve
- You can choose fruits, vegetables, nuts, sprouts basis what you like
- Once you have taken the recommended dose of food, you can eat your regular food of your choice
